April’s Architect uncle, Cyrus, is considered a visionary for designing the Atlas’s transition from a warehouse to an event-space Continuum House in the 1970s, ushering in the era of the Nightlife Model for Continuum Houses. The son of Talira LaCroix, who immigrated to New Orleans from the Keshtaran Oasis in the 18th century, he and his wife raised April when her parents were tragically killed in a mysterious accident in the late 1960s.

Appearing now in his 70s though actually almost 200 years old, he protects the Atlas before an injured April disappears. An old friend of Montegarr, he offers crucial advice on how to handle the Absence, forming an unlikely alliance with Elaine when Kelvin and Montegarr vanish into history. As an Architect, he speaks many languages and draws on the Via, displaying all the talents an Architect usually shows, though he sometimes says he has retired from the role, as his wife lives in New Orleans is retired and ill..

His tall, robust African American frame remains magisterial, though he now walks with a slower, more deliberate cadence that reflects his years. His face is framed by a neatly trimmed mustache and close-cropped hair that have entirely transitioned to a striking snow-white silver.
